Weekly recaps help me stay accountable, see weekly progress, set small goals, and check in with the world. I like seeing how others are doing- the good, the not-so-good. I think as runners we have so much we can learn from each other. I’m Linking Up With the Jess’s- jessrunsatl.com and therightfits.com -check them out for other weekly recaps! I’m also linking with Courtney at eatprayrundc.com who is training for a different race than I am, but we are in the same running group.
It was a rough week everybody. All of my flights on Sunday were delayed, and then I was working overtime during the week. Thank goodness for the opportunity to reboot and say we’ll try again this upcoming week.
Monday: Tired but I made it to kettlebell class after work! It was not high weight, but high tension. I could feel my legs and shoulders start to be sore about 10 minutes after class ended. Ooof.
Tuesday: Sleep, so tired, lots of work.
Wednesday: I made it up to November Project with friends! Running the stairs of the Lincoln Memorial at 5:30. Stairs plus going back and forth to my car totaled 3 miles. And there were more than 30 pushups and 25 burpees, so I know my core was going to be sore the rest of the day.
Thursday: So tired from late phone calls the night before, and then work and dinner with Medals and Bacon and some of my running posse! If Medals and Bacon ever offers to cook for you, take her up on it. It was fantastic. And, an overall good time to catch up with my girls.
Friday: So tired in the morning, but insomnia at night. This does not bode well.
Saturday: I had 18 miles scheduled. I was still awake at 2am. I didn’t hear my alarms or texts at all. I finally woke up about 9, realized I had totally missed my run, and went back to sleep for 2 hours. 9 hours of sleep. I still felt exhausted the rest of the day. It was so weird- like I was battling the flu or something. I haven’t missed a Saturday run in over 4 years because I just didn’t get up. So weird.
Sunday: 10 hours of sleep- slept through my alarms again. I’m going to chalk up this weekend to my body knowing it needed rest. I’m kind of baffled. I’ll tack some extra miles on over Labor Day weekend to make up for it. I’m glad that my race isn’t until November. And, I know I can run a marathon, just need to remind my legs of that fact.
Weekly total: 3 miles and 1 kettlebell class.
What’s up for the week ahead: 3-4 days of running, 1 cross-train. Try to get more regular sleep so this weird deficit thing doesn’t become a pattern.
Oh man – are you feeling okay outside of the tiredness? Are you sure you haven’t picked up a bug? I highly recommend some naps this long weekend 🙂 Missed you on Saturday but figured you must’ve really needed rest because I know you don’t miss runs! Get some sleep, friend!
