Weekly recaps help me stay accountable, see weekly progress, set small goals, and check in with the world. I like seeing how others are doing- the good, the not-so-good. I think as runners we have so much we can learn from each other. I’m Linking Up With the Jess’s- jessrunsatl.com and therightfits.com -check them out for other weekly recaps! I’m also linking with Courtney at eatprayrundc.com who is training for a different race than I am, but we are in the same running group.

In the DC area, Labor Day marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Kids go back to school and the weather starts fluctuating. Here’s how my last week of summer went:

Monday: I left work late, so I only managed a short run, 1.6 miles, around Falls Church before going to kettlebell class.IMG_4121

Tuesday/Wednesday: I had evening plans and am still feeling tired, so I focused on sleep and some stretches.

Thursday: Kettlebell class, focused on pressing.

Saturday: 12 mile long run with my running group! My hip was doing great until I started to feel twinges about mile 10. I switched to a walk break every half mile, and finished the run without pain! However, my hip tightened up after the run, to the point where I was hobbling around the farmer’s market. A lovely nap and some stretches helped, but this does motivate me to see a doctor or PT soon, since obviously whatever the problem is, it hasn’t gone away on its own. My sister was in town, and because she loves me, she did the water stop for running group and we got to hang out all day!IMG_4140 IMG_4138

Sunday: 3.5 miles around my neighborhood. This is a pretty hilly loop, and I felt stiff the whole time. Not the most fun. But I got out there and got it done.

Total weekly mileage: 17.1 miles and 2 kettlebell classes.

Next week’s goals: over 20 miles, at least one kettlebell class, and make an appointment about my hip.

  1. Kettle bells are so great for runners! my friend is an instructor and she wrote this guest post on my blog about how helpful they are.

Awesome- thank you! I will check that out!

And it was fun to see my sister mid-run, and have her meet a few of my running friends 🙂

  2. Yikes on your hip! I hope you can get in to see someone soon!

  3. Get thee to a PT now, friend! Get that hip checked out so you can make any needed adjustments! 🙂
