I’m so glad it’s Friday, aren’t you? I’ve had a crazy week- 8 hours of a professional development course each day, plus my job and regular commitments in the evenings. So there will be lots of pictures*. Today I’m linking up for the Friday Five with Courtney, Mar, and Cynthia. Make sure you check out their awesome blogs as well as those who join the link up.
I love travel, and I routinely am asked what my favorite places have been. I’m focusing on international travel. I’ve done a lot of travel as a single woman, so I will mention my favorite places to try for your first trip!
Iceland
Beautiful, so many people speak English, safe. I think it’s a great place if you want to go with friends or try a solo trip. IcelandAir has lots of flights from the US. I already have my next 2 trips mentally planned!
Russia
I studied abroad in Russia during college. Russia has incredible diversity, but it can be difficult if you don’t know Russian. Personally, I love Moscow, Kazan, and Sochi.
Turkey
I went to Turkey for work a number of years ago. I was only in Istanbul, but I loved it! Public transportation was easy, and I felt safe walking around alone during the day. I would love to go back and see Cappadocia.
Czech Republic
I spent Christmas week one year in college traveling in the Czech Republic. It was perfect (except missing family). The cinnamon bread, the mulled wine, the history, the old cities. I had several interesting conversations in English and Russia with other travelers and locals.
Canada
Sometimes Canada gets a bad rap. But it’s so close! I’ve really only been to Quebec, but I have several other Canadian adventures all ready in my mind. Whether you go in summer or winter- Quebec has the cosmopolitan European feel combined with a Midwest/Canadian relaxed, outdoorsy vibe.
And because I’m limiting my self to 5, I will only mention Ukraine and Georgia- harder to get to, but well worth it!

Such beautiful pictures! I love to travel too. The only place I have been on your list is Canada. I have always wanted to visit Iceland.
Thanks Lacey! I hope you get to Iceland soon- it’s amazing!
Amazing pictures. I love to travel, but haven’t done much international. At a point where now waiting until kids are older so they can remember / hopefully appreciate it when we do.
Thanks John! I have so many memories of road trips in the US from when I was a kid- I will probably do a US favorites list this summer too.
Of these, I’ve only been to Canada. Iceland looks amazing!
Where in Canada were you Coco? Iceland is amazing- I plan to write more about it soon!
Your travels are so inspiring to me! Especially your most recent racecation!
Thanks!
